Glacier pilot

A microlight and glacier-plane pilot, Géraldine is one of the few women in the world who land on glaciers. From Verbier she takes off towards the great spaces of the Alps — the Aletsch, the Trient, Monte Rosa — to reach from the sky the lines she dreams of riding, where it would otherwise take days on foot.

With Line & Air, a documentary made with The North Face, she took riders Marion Haerty and Christina Lusti aboard her ultralight to draw their tracks on the most beautiful lines of the Alps. In 2021 she searched from the air for a line to snowboard the Aletschhorn. On 13 June 2024 she landed her plane at 4,200 m on the Nordend, in the Monte Rosa massif, before riding down its north-west face, a slope of more than 50°.

Flying a plane is the same craft as flying a wingsuit or riding a face: reading the terrain, the snow and the wind, checking every metre, turning back when it is needed, and only going on the day everything comes together. On a glacier, the landing is prepared long in advance — the plane gets no second chance.
